The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an exceptional business analyst to join our Canadian office. Cubane is a specialist global consulting firm that delivers strategic analysis, benchmarking and insights to Executive Teams in the Australian, New Zealand, UK and Canadian university sectors. Founded in Australia a decade ago and active in Canada for more than three years, many top research and teaching universities are members of our unique ‘UniForum’ benchmarking programme. In this role you will be a key member of the Canadian team, working closely with colleagues to support member universities and build key relationships with clients to ensure our strong momentum continues. You will also be working closely with colleagues from the UK and Australia on a remote basis. The teams in these offices come from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience, from recent university graduates to colleagues with up to 30 years’ commercial experience.

The Role

This is a full-time role, based in Cubane’s Downtown Toronto office and reporting to the Canadian Managing Director. You will be part of the small UniForum Canada team who are responsible for managing Cubane’s annual data collection, benchmarking processes, process improvements, data analytics, client insights development and new service offering development. In particular you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development of hypotheses and strategic insights using data analytics
  • Working with Cubane’s sophisticated data models, to help direct high-level university decisions and planning
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of detailed deliverables, briefings and annual reports
  • Becoming an expert in cutting-edge technologies and tools, including Cubane’s Qlik-based data visualisation platform
  • The set-up and testing of Cubane’s collection and business intelligence tools
  • Supporting the Cubane team with the collection, cleansing and quality review of detailed quantitative and qualitative information from client universities
  • Assisting clients with their queries about the data collections and surveys 
  • Supporting business development and client pipeline development by contributing to client communication and marketing strategy execution
  • Developing strong relationships with our global team as well as with client Program Managers

The ideal candidate has:

  • Excellent project and event management, organization and delivery skills
  • Strong academics – mathematics, science, business, accounting or engineering disciplines (or similar quantitative disciplines) preferable
  • 0-2 years’ experience, ideally in a business consulting context
  • Highly numerate, with a demonstrable analytical aptitude and interest in how to use data driven insights to inform change
  • Great attention to detail and an ability to gather the necessary data to support quality analyses
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and “pitches in” to support the team

About You:

  • Talented at analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Quick to learn new technologies, and very comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly with data operations in Excel and creating PowerPoint presentations
  • Positive approach with all types of clients, and comfortable working with academics
  • Is flexible and adaptable as demands and priorities change
  • Good humoured and able to perform under pressure
  • Is keen to get involved with different aspects of a growing business
  • A self-starter motivated by learning and proactive in looking for opportunities to take ownership of tasks and innovate
