Assistant Accountant

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be part of a small team tasked with utilising your experience and initiative to work with the Finance Manager and HR Manager across a broad range of accounting and HR administration functions.

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll including monthly superannuation & payroll tax (Australian companies), pension (UK)
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Assist with IAS/BAS (Australian companies), VAT return (UK) and GST/HST (Canada)
  • Assist with month end reconciliations (including inter-company) and reporting
  • Maintaining appropriate filing of financial information
  • Liaising with internal clients and suppliers where necessary
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Accounts Receivable

  • Credit card reconciliations

Skills and experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience within a similar position, and ideally an accounting degree (or currently studying)
  • Experience with Xero is an advantage
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles
  • Understanding of financial statements (balance sheet and profit and loss)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a small team

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and effective time management
  • Flexible and adaptable as demands and priorities change
  • Interested in supporting a growing business
